Equipment

  • Stand Mixer
  • baking sheet
  • silicone mat

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 0.5 tablespoon table salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.25 cup dried potato flakes
  • 3.75 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Topping Ingredients

  • Garlic powder
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Dried oregano
  • Dried parsley

Instructions

Preparing the Dough

  • In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm water, yeast, sugar, olive oil, salt, egg, and potato flakes; mix until combined.
  • Gradually add flour and cheeses. Using the dough hook attachment, mix on low for 1-2 minutes then increase to medium for about 6-7 minutes until the dough pulls away from the sides.
  • Transfer dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Shaping and Topping

  • Divide the dough into four pieces and shape each into logs. Place them on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat.
  • Prepare toppings by mixing garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, oregano, and parsley; sprinkle over the logs after brushing them with water.
  • Let rise for another hour until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 16–20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Enjoy the bread warm, ideally served fresh from the oven.
