  • Mixing bowl
  • measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound Chicken Breast can substitute with chicken thighs for richer flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce low-sodium soy sauce is a healthier option
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch arrowroot powder can be used instead
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil sesame oil can be substituted for a nuttier flavor

For the Vegetables

  • 2 cloves Garlic minced; fresh garlic is preferred
  • 1 cup Green Cabbage shredded; napa cabbage is a tasty alternative
  • 1 cup Carrots shredded; bell peppers can substitute for a flavorful twist
  • ½ cup Mushrooms sliced; shiitake or button mushrooms can be used interchangeably
  • ¼ cup Green Onions sliced; substitute with chives or omit if desired

For the Sauce and Wrap

  • ¼ cup Hoisin Sauce plum sauce is a good alternative
  • 8 pieces Moo Shu Pancakes or Tortillas flour tortillas can be used for a gluten-free option

Instructions

Method

  • Combine sliced chicken breast, soy sauce, and cornstarch in a bowl. Let this mixture marinate for about 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  • In a skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Stir-fry the marinated chicken until it’s fully cooked and golden brown, which should take around 5-7 minutes.
  • Incorporate the minced garlic into the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until it becomes fragrant.
  • Add the shredded cabbage, carrots, and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the hoisin sauce and mix everything together well, allowing it to heat through for another minute.
  • In a separate pan or microwave, warm the moo shu pancakes or tortillas for about 30 seconds.
  • Spoon a generous amount of the chicken and vegetable mixture onto each pancake. Fold them over to create a wrap.
  • Plate your wraps and optional garnishing with sesame seeds or extra green onions before serving.
