Beans and Meat
- 1 pound pinto beans rinsed and soaked overnight
- 6 slices bacon chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper finely chopped
Seasoning and Sauces
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- ¼ cup brown sugar
Preparation
Rinse pinto beans under cold water and soak overnight.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy; remove with a slotted spoon.
In the same skillet, brown ground beef with onion and green bell pepper until beef is cooked through; stir in garlic and seasonings.
Cooking
In the slow cooker, combine soaked beans, cooked bacon, beef mixture, barbecue sauce, beef broth, and brown sugar; mix well.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until beans are tender.
