Ingredients
  

Beans and Meat

  • 1 pound pinto beans rinsed and soaked overnight
  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper finely chopped

Seasoning and Sauces

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse pinto beans under cold water and soak overnight.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy; remove with a slotted spoon.
  • In the same skillet, brown ground beef with onion and green bell pepper until beef is cooked through; stir in garlic and seasonings.

Cooking

  • In the slow cooker, combine soaked beans, cooked bacon, beef mixture, barbecue sauce, beef broth, and brown sugar; mix well.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until beans are tender.
