  • whisk

Ingredients

For the Crust

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 oz burrata cheese drained
  • ½ cup hot honey
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  • Punch down dough and roll out to ½-inch thickness. Use a round cutter to cut circles. Place a small piece of burrata in the center of half the circles, top with another circle, and seal edges tightly.
  • Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F. Fry donuts in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  • Drizzle hot honey over warm donuts, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and garnish with fresh basil. Serve immediately.
